A LOVE LETTER TO MATERIALS

This is a love letter - to stone, wood, tile, and all of the minute decisions that make a space feel right. Stone with movement. Wood that shows its history. Slabs bold enough to hold a room on their own.

My favorite moments of a project aren’t the brainstorming sessions or picking pretty materials in a pristine showroom. They’re on the jobsite - showing up to grab the long-awaited wood finish sample, dust and all, and holding it up against the selected kitchen slab or the tile on the primary bath floor.
I truly live for that moment.
Is it always right on the first try? Keep dreaming. But that’s the beauty of it. By then, we know what we’re looking for. We know what needs to shift, deepen, or soften to get it right.

Because that’s the moment when you know; quietly, confidently, in your gut - that this combination is going to work.
Materials aren’t just finishes to me; they’re collaborators. Each one influences the next, working together to make a space feel right.
That’s why I get excited about samples. Because when you love the materials, everything else falls into place.
