WELCOME TO SIERRA DESIGN

Hi y’all! My name is DemiRae, and I’m the owner and principal designer of Sierra Design & Interiors. I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself, share a little about who I am, and give you a peek into my outlook and design process.

First things first: I’m a big “get it done” kind of gal.

I started Sierra Design & Interiors shortly after having my second daughter; because why not have two under two and start a small business? Sounds about right.

My husband owns Sierra Mountain Pipe & Supply, another small, family-owned, family-operated (and occasionally family-argued-over) business right here in Truckee. We feel incredibly lucky not only to live in the Sierra Nevadas, but to grow our businesses and raise our little family here too.

You could say our hands are full, phones on loud, diaper bags stocked, keys? (hope they are in the car), schedules are full - but our hearts are even fuller.

My family life translates directly into my design style and outlook. I’m passionate about creating spaces that are meant to be lived in and loved in; not just photographed (but don't get it twisted, photoshoot days are my superbowl).

I always start with the kitchen, because to me, it’s the heart of the home. I picture how a family will truly use the space:

• How do you host?

• How many people do you gather with?

• Is it quiet mornings with coffee… or chaos with kids running through? Both? Same.

  
  

Those little details matter, and they shape the vision and decisions I make throughout the design process.

Naturally, living in the Sierra Nevadas has also shaped my aesthetic. I’m drawn to the tones and textures we find right outside our front door; warm woods, layered neutrals, stone, soft greens, cozy textures, and timeless finishes. I love tailoring those natural elements to fit each space and each client I’m welcomed into.

And when I’m not designing homes, thinking about designing homes, brainstorming how to improve my process, or trying to convince one (or both) of my little gals to join the business someday… you can find me with my husband and our dog chasing our littles around Donner Lake, on a local mountain biking trail, or hanging out at the Sugar Bowl magic carpet.
